Mission Statement

To provided trained service dogs for those with disabilities, with particular emphasis in our veteran population on the Olympic Peninsula.



About New Leash on Life

New Leash on Life is a nonprofit organization that trains service dogs for veterans and others with disabilities. Our mission is to help the disabled population on the Olympic Peninsula in western Washington state.

New Leash on Life's core function supports, honors, and empowers the disabled. By helping with daily physical and mental needs, the service dog assists the disabled person enter into and interact with the community.


About the Founder

New Leash on Life founder, Cheryl Bowers, is a long-time member of International Association of Assistance Dog Partners (IAADP), which sets the standards for service dog training for public access. IAADP also defines what qualifies as an individually trained task that is required to be a service dog. Cheryl is also an AKC Canine Good Citizenship® Evaluator.  As a volunteer with local nonprofit, Voices for Veterans, for several years, she has built the trust and access to the disabled veterans in the community.
